Even though it did not work out entirely in his favour, Jacob laboured seven years in the hopes of marrying Rachel (Gen 29:18).
A famous example of this is Jacob’s pursuit of Rachel. As a Christian, I can appreciate this approach because it does line up with a lot of the examples we see in the bible. In today’s culture concerning dating and marriage, we see men shoot their shots and actively pursue women they love and want to marry, not the other way around. These fantasies taught us, women, to patiently wait for our prince to come and save us and live happily ever after.
